GATEKEEPERS “Access Granted - Access Denied” #6 Final The Gatekeeper Is Me Nov. 24th, 2019 THE REVELATION: from the sermon video I am the one who brings both the negative things and/or the positive things into my life! I do believe that the demonic also attaches to and feeds the negative things. They work to see that the negatives are increased by fear, by lies and deceptions. WE ARE THE INNER GATEKEEPERS FOR OUR LIFE. SERMON QUESTION: How do we equip and strengthen the Gatekeeper within us to be able to do the work consistently and effectively? I. OUR INNER GATEKEEPER IS STRENGTHENED BY THE RICHES OF GOD’S GLORY Riches: His unlimited supply or abundance Paul wrote of these… Rom. 2:4 “…The riches of His kindness, forbearance, and patience.” Rom. 9:23 “…To make the riches of His glory known to the objects of His mercy.” Rom. 11:33 “Oh the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God.” Phil. 4:19 “God will meet all your needs according to His riches of His glory in Christ Jesus.” APPLICATION: What is it that God gives us of His riches? 1. He wants us to know of the riches of His glory available to us. How is our inner gatekeeper strengthened? By… a. Kindness b. Forbearance / self-control, restraint and tolerance c. Patience d. Wisdom e. Knowledge of God f. The fruits of the Spirit g. The gifts of motivation and ministry h. He will meet ALL YOUR NEEDS according to His riches. 2. How to gain the RICHES OF THE SPIRIT even while fighting against the strength of the FLESH? a. Practically… don’t act on your first response. Our first response is usually our flesh that wants to react, to fight back, to wound, to harm, to excuse, to blame. b. Take a moment and ask the Lord how and what He wants you to do or say in this situation. He promises His riches for such a time as this. c. Take time to receive the riches of God’s glory for each situation. This is known as “walking in the Spirit.” ILLUSTRATION: Of Walking In The Spirit 1. Bring thoughts captive to God’s Word [II Cor. 10:5] 2. Forget what is behind press forward to God’s high calling [Phl. 3:14] 3. Keep your words without fault [Jam. 3:2] 4. Act in faith bringing truth, life and blessing. [Heb. 11:6] This happens for me personally every time we meet together for worship. I ask Him, “Lord what do you want to do today?” I ask Him, “Please leave your fingerprint somewhere in this service so that we can see where you want us to go - and what you want us to do.” Sometimes He moves in a… *Song *Testimony *A Need that is revealed *Through the message Then when He moves I ask Him, “Give me wisdom and courage to follow where you are leading. SERMON QUESTION: How do we equip and strengthen the Gatekeeper within us to be able to do the work consistently and effectively? II. OUR INNER GATEKEEPER IS STRENGTHENED WITH MIGHT BY THE HOLY SPIRIT Eph. 3:14-19 “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven an on earth derives its name. I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power (Dunamis) thru the Holy Spirit in your inner being (Gatekeeper) so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power. together with all the Lord’s people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of the fullness of God.” 1. Strengthened by might/power How is something strengthened? Compared to the body… 1. The body needs the basics of food, water, rest and exercise Without these the body weakens and moves toward frailty. 2. Muscles are strengthened by repetitive work against resistance If a part of the body is stagnant for a period of time as you know the muscle weakens, and atrophies. Might: (Dunamai) this is the very thing Jesus promised His Disciples. Means: Strength, power or ability. Acts 1:8 “And you will receive power (dunamai) after the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto Me both in Jerusalem, in all Judea and to the ends of the earth.” Notice this dynamos/ MIGHT (Dynamite- power) comes from the Holy Spirit within you. It needs bread = the word It needs water = the Spirit It needs exercise = functioning in obedience to the Holy Spirit 2. To have the Holy Spirit within you, you must… 1st realize that you have sinned against God and HIs law. 2nd confess your sin, lost and separated condition to God. 3rd by faith ask Him to forgive you and trust Him when He said that, “Whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.” 4th once cleansed by forgiveness - invite God to come into your life with His Spirit to take control of your life. 5th Daily seek to know Him more and give your very life to His control. Illustration: Show a battery powered car without batteries SERMON QUESTION: How do we equip and strengthen the Gatekeeper within us to be able to do the work consistently and effectively? III. OUR INNER GATEKEEPER IS STRENGTHENED BY A HOUSE, A PLANT AND A MEASURING CUP. Eph. 3:17-19 “That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have POWER, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” A. THREE ANALOGIES OF HOW THIS DUNAMIS WORKS.. 1. A HOUSE [Bekah show a projection of a house] “Having Christ dwell in my heart through faith” vs.17a Dwell = make His home in me when I trust Him to be Savior and Master of my life. *Our job is to make room for His residence. Give Him room to live within us Ask Him to cleanse us so that His holiness and dwell in us 2. A PLANT [Bekah show a projection of a plant] “Being rooted and established in Love” vs. 17b Rooted = the placing of our trust in the Lord for His complete acceptance / love. No longer a slave to the approval of men. *Our job is to put our roots fully into Him and not share our roots with the false promises of the world. 3. A MEASURING CUP [Bekah show a measuring cup] “Being filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.vs 19b” Filled = that whatever the size of our measuring cup, that the Lord designed us to be (1/2 cup, 1/3 cup, 1/4 cup, or tablespoon) that we will be filled with God’s fullness. *Our job is to be under the spout where the glory comes out.” *Glory comes out in… a. Reading His Word looking for Jesus b. Praying and listening to the voice or move of the Lord. c. Being in worship with God’s people d. Obeying the instruction of the Lord. *Our job is to remove things that fill up our lives that are not what we were meant for and to have our cup cleansed. So that we can be filled up to the brim. Conclusion: SERMON QUESTION: How do we equip and strengthen the Gatekeeper within us to be able to do the work consistently and effectively? 1st We are strengthened by the riches of His Glory 2nd We are strengthened by the Might of the Holy Spirit 3rd We are strengthened by dwelling, rooting and filling.
